My days off always start with… a lie-in. I like to spend a bit of time scrolling on TikTok and Instagram before I get up, and then I see where the day takes me. If I feel like I need to lie in bed all day, I try not to feel guilty about it. I use the time to really listen to my body and give it what it needs. If I need to have a day on my own, then that’s OK.
Breakfast usually involves… scrambled eggs on sourdough. I also love adding some avocado and roasted tomatoes, and if I want to make it really fancy, I’ll add a drizzle of honey. It’s not super exciting, but it tastes amazing.
The biggest wellness lesson I’ve learned is… how to say no to things. Recently, I’ve been trying to embrace doing what I want to do in my spare time. If what I really want is to spend three hours doing my make-up and then going out to dinner, then that’s OK; I find the process of getting ready therapeutic. I’ve learned that it’s OK to be selfish and not go along with what other people are doing just because they’re doing it.
I wish more women knew… how to work with their menstrual cycle. I’ve been learning a lot recently about my period and how it affects me. I used to force myself to crack on and perform at the same level all month long, but now I’m more aware that I might not be able to lift as much in the gym at certain times, and I don’t have to put that down to ‘having a bad day’. It’s really helpful to know what’s going on, and I think it’s really beneficial to know how you might be affected.
