This week, Kayleigh Dray gets us hyped for not one, but two terrifying TV dramas, while Helen Bownass lists off three more titles for your watchlists…

… the return of one of the best TV shows ever

Tomb Raider and Resident Evil fans, take a seat: The Last Of Us is one of the best video game adaptations of all time,” says Kayleigh. “Starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, it weaves a dark tale of a world that’s all but been destroyed by a deadly pandemic. There is hope of a cure, though, if a hardened smuggler – still grieving the death of his daughter – can get a sarcastic teenage girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone to a far-flung hospital.

“Do things go to plan? Obviously not, but it’s been well over a year since the season one finale broke our hearts into a thousand pieces (and I still can’t listen to Linda Ronstadt’s Long Long Time without sobbing). So, before season two hits our screens, here’s a quick refresher…” The Last Of Us S2 premieres on Sky and NOW on Monday 14 April.

... this nightmarish new series is a must-watch

“You let your daughter go to a sleepover. By morning, she’s gone without a trace – much like that wild movie Flightplan, where Jodie Foster’s kid vanishes from a cruising airplane (only more plausible),” says Kayleigh.

“Yes, this is the chilling premise of The Stolen Girl, a gripping new five-part thriller landing on Disney+ this week. From the producers of Happy Valley, an innocent overnight playdate becomes a full-blown nightmare for Elisa (Denise Gough), when her daughter vanishes – and the house she was staying at is exposed as nothing more than a rented prop.

“No family. No child. No trace. It’s not long before Elisa and her husband (Jim Sturgess) are thrust into the media spotlight, questioned by the police and forced to reckon with their less-than-perfect past. Expect a mountain of dark secrets to be exposed, not to mention stellar performances from Gough, Sturgess, Holliday Grainger and Ambika Mod.

“Part family drama, part psychological whodunnit, expect things to get every bit as intense as they do emotional. Maybe just don’t watch it right before bed – like I say: nightmare fuel!” All five episodes of The Stolen Girl will be available to stream from Wednesday 16 April.
