This week, Kayleigh Dray works overtime as she hypes us up for Michelle Williams’s unforgettable new series, worships at the altar of Jenna Ortega and shares three more titles to add to your must-watchlist…

… this near-perfect example of the female gaze

“What would you do if you knew your time was running out? For Michelle Williams’s Molly, the answer is simple: live on her own terms, starting with sex,” says Kayleigh.

“In Dying For Sex, an electrifying new drama, Molly ditches her well-meaning but emotionally distant husband – the one who can’t keep from crying mid-blowjob because his wife’s boobs make him, and I quote, ‘think about death’ – to explore her deepest and wildest desires. But this is no ordinary journey of self-discovery. Between her ever-present cancer, an amazing but boundary-pushing best friend (Jenny Slate), and a world that isn’t quite sure how to handle a terminally ill woman who still wants, needs and craves pleasure, Molly’s story is as heartbreaking as it is hilarious.

“What makes Dying For Sex stand out? The unapologetic honesty: it treats female desire as sacred, friendships as lifelines, and palliative care as a means of truly living – not just waiting to die. The chemistry between Williams and Slate crackles, and the show effortlessly blends wit, raw emotion and searing insight into what it means to really be alive.

“Prepare to laugh, cry and question everything… but only after reading my full review, of course. Warning: tissues recommended.” Dying For Sex premieres on Friday 4 April exclusively on Disney+ in the UK, with all eight episodes available at premiere.

Jenna Ortega is back to her brilliant best

“I don’t know how she does it, but every time Jenna Ortega steps on screen, I’m hooked. And with Death Of A Unicorn on the horizon (a film which, quite literally, does what it says on the tin), I already know I’ll be watching her first foray into the world of A24 with bated breath,” says Kayleigh.

“This is, after all, an actor with that rare ability to slip into any role with such conviction that it feels like she’s living it – not just playing it. From the quiet devastation of Vada in The Fallout to the razor-sharp wit of the weirdly wonderful Wednesday Addams, Jenna makes it her business to bring a depth that lingers long after the credits roll on every single project.

“Think about it: she turned Scream’s Tara Carpenter into a final girl for the ages, gave X its most haunting moment with just one scream, and proved that horror and heart go hand in hand. She gave Winona Ryder a run for her money in the kooky stakes when she served misunderstood teen realness in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. She invoked a whole new side to Joe Goldberg in You as Ellie (a role she’s rumoured to be reprising for the show’s final season). And, yes, she even got me wholly invested in Jennifer Garner’s cheesy family romp, Yes Day.

“From small parts to main characters, we’re always guaranteed a layered, unforgettable performance from the queen of making every second count. So here’s to Jenna for reminding us that great acting isn’t about spectacle – it’s about soul.

“Anyone else eagerly counting down the days until Single White Female, Hurry Up Tomorrow and Wednesday season 2 hit our screens later this year…?” Death Of A Unicorn premieres in UK cinemas on Friday 4 April.
