I don’t use an alarm… because I’m able to naturally wake up around 7.30am.
The first thing I do every morning is… quickly glance at any new emails so that I can psychologically prepare for the day ahead, and then it’s time for breakfast. I try to keep it simple but nutritious, so often that tends to be yoghurt and cereal.
The biggest wellness lesson I’ve learned has been… without a doubt, the importance of going to therapy. Attending therapy regularly has helped me learn how to manage stress as a business owner, as well as develop a healthier mindset when it comes to switching off.
I wish more women knew how to… work with their body’s natural rhythms. That’s our superpower! Not enough of us understand the different phases of the menstrual cycle and how embedding that information into your daily life can help to optimise your energy, productivity and wellbeing.
When it comes to stress, I’ve got a few go-to strategies… including therapy, meditation, walking, sauna sessions and exercise. Moving my body with a workout or a simple walk helps me to reset, while mindfulness practices like meditation help me stay grounded on busy days.
I love running as a way to explore new parts of London… and as you might expect, you’ll find me running throughout my cycle thanks to period pants. So many people think that exercising on your period is difficult or messy, but my advice is to just listen to your body. I’ve found that there’s nothing like light movement during that crampy week to help centre me.
My wind-down routine isn’t at all fancy… but it does work. If I’ve got time, I like to go to the sauna to properly unwind but if not, a short walk always helps to release tension. Once I’ve finished all my tasks for the day and have planned for tomorrow, I then spend a bit of time reading or stretching to help me transition into relaxation mode. Sometimes, it’s the simple habits that are the most effective.
